Joel Osteen is one of the most popular television preachers in the world. Thousands of people flock to hear him each week. According to his website, he is reaching into over 100 million homes around the world. His website also claims that their podcast is one of the top five downloaded in the world. WOW! The fact that Joel is so popular must mean that he is like Jesus, right? Or does it? Jesus was hated by the whole world because He testified of its wickedness (John 7:7). Jesus said that if we follow Him that the world will hate us, and that if the world loves us, that we are of it (John 15:18-21). Jesus wasn’t rich, wasn’t loved by the world and if He preached a message like Joel’s, He would have never of been crucified. Jesus Christ was basically homeless (Matt. 8:20) and said that it was almost impossible for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt. 19:23-24). If your “best life” is NOW, then we know where your heart is and you CAN’T serve two masters (Matt. 6:19-24). Not content with what you have? Do you desire to be rich? Then, you are in trouble (1 Tim. 6:5-11). Ever wonder why Joel rarely uses Scripture or twists it when He does? It’s because he is a false teacher. The Bible says to stay away from such people (1 Tim. 6:5) and instead to reprove them (Eph. 5:11)! Liars, covetous people, drunkards, homosexuals and all sinners will be judged by God.
